Working in the public sector of law can be trying. There is never enough funding and therefore, the workload can be immense. A positive side effect of the high workload is that attorneys are able to garner a wide variety of skills while working on a wide variety of cases. Mariah Dylla Gardiner began her career in the legal field in the public sector as a clerk for an administrative law judge at the U.S. Department of the Interior. She then worked in Utah for the public defender's office. Mariah Dylla Gardiner now works in the private sector, but references her time in the public sector as a time of great growth as a legal professional.
